Mindful Monday Pause
bitesize mindfulness practice
Hi 🌸
Welcome to Mindful Monday Pause.
Here, in the UK, summer has finally arrived and this year it feels different having this warm weather for longer. The sun comes out a bit more during the day and the rain has not been taking centerstage. It really makes a difference to how the world looks and again reminded me of the role that colour plays in how I see it and how the colours highlighted by sunshine seem most beautiful to me.
While on a recent walk, I noticed cherries fallen under my step and was inspired to look up. I immediately loved the colour combination of what I saw (you can see it in the picture above) and how that one branch was highlighted by the sunshine. This made me stop, slow myself down and look around to notice my surroundings. It created a moment that I remember and am now sharing with you. A moment, which made me realise how often I miss parts of my experience when I am in a rush or comfortable in my daily routine and only follow the habitual path of everyday.
So with today’s post I am, once again, going back to the intention that I had when I started writing here: wanting to invite you (and myself!) to slow down and be able to learn to mindfully notice and observe what our experience is in this moment here now.
With the practice below I am inviting you to pause at what you are seeing and observe these different layers of your present experience with gentle awareness, being kind to yourself and if this does not feel supportive allowing yourself to leave it for another day.
Thank you for reading this and inviting me into your day.
*
To start..
give yourself a moment to notice where you are..
how you are..
And now..
notice what are you seeing..
(if this is something you prefer, choose one object from your surroundings for this practice)
and observe..
the shape of what you are seeing..
the colour-s..
different elements..
the texture..
the form..
stay with it for a moment..
allow yourself to see (the object) without trying to name it..
What have you noticed?
Allow yourself to stay in this pause as long as it feels supportive.
And if this is helpful perhaps write down anything that comes up during this practice.

Thank you for being here with me and have a mindful week ♡ Kate
